How’d I end up doing this?
As my four children have grown up and faced the prospect of starting careers, I’ve told them to find what lights them up and fills them with enthusiasm and joy. Of course they have challenged me to do that myself as my role as full-time mom comes to a close, so that’s what I’ve done and I’d like to share what I’m doing with you.
As a woman I’ve always felt vulnerable being out late at night or in an unfamiliar environment, and being at home alone. As a mother I have worried about keeping my kids safe, not just when they were little, but when they started living away from home. A desire to learn how to protect myself and my loved ones prompted me to learn martial arts (and to enroll my kids in classes too).
Although I started out with traditional martial arts and liked the discipline, the mental challenge, and the physical workouts, eventually I realized that what I was learning was great for practicing in the school but inadequate for actually protecting myself if I were to be attacked by a true predator or violent attacker on the street or in my home. Then I discovered Tony Blauer’s Personal Defense Readiness™ program, and all of a sudden I knew exactly what I wanted to do: to teach this program throughout my community and give people the knowledge and tools to stay safe in their daily lives!
I love this program:
I believe everyone should know how to protect themselves and their loved ones from harm. When I teach this program, I see people of all ages, backgrounds, and differing physical abilities gain knowledge, confidence and skills to keep themselves safe. Their “Aha!” moments are what make me leap out of bed in the morning eager to get busy and bring this program to more men and women, youngsters and teens in our community.
To check out upcoming classes, go to the EVENTS page! I would be thrilled to see you at one of my courses, learning how to keep yourself and your loved ones safe.
